clave mundial
in 1979 sana & papo nickel began a journey that would take them on a musical exploration through latin america & the caribbean.
after many years of traveling they now reside on the island of puerto rico and in vermont. there for the past 20 years they have enjoyed an ongoing musical collaboration with some of the finest musicians on the island and in the northeast usa. out of this collaboration was born the musical ensemble clave mundial[pronounced: klay-vay moon-dee-al]. this is a cross-cultural weave rooted in the traditional rhythyms of the afro-latin caribbean, driven by female/male vocals inspired by the folk/pop/jazz traditions of the americas.
though sana and papo form the core of clave mundial[they tour extensively throughout the northeast as the duo taino] all the musicians in the collaboration add their particular creative genius:

clave mundial is based in the caribbean. it has been the house band at the ponce hilton's "los balcones" on an ongoing basis. to date 2 cds have been professionally produced: seed[2002] and passions flower[1997]
