The JOURNAL NEWS calls Mario Tacca "one of the pre-eminent accordion virtuosi in the world" and in a feature article about Tacca and his music, the NEW YORK TIMES writes that he makes the instrument "sound like a gift from heaven." A winner of several major awards for his plaing, Tacca has helped spearhead a newfound appreciation for his chosen instrument. Tacca was born in Italy and grew up in France, and displayed unusual prowess on the accordion when he first began playing at the age of 13. Graduating from the Anzaghi Conservatory of Music in Milan , he won the World Cup of Italy, the Grand Prix of Paris, the United States National Competition, and the American Accordion Association's International Accordion Competition, held at Carnegie Hall. In 2004 Tacca, and his wife International Singer, Mary Mancini, returned from their second tour of China, where the accordion is also widely popular. As guests of the China Ministry of Culture, they toured five cities and performed with local symphony orchestras. In addition to his busy concert schedule, which keeps him on the road for 200 days a year, Tacca maintains an active recording career. In addition, he has recently released a book, "MARIO TACCA - COMPOSITIONS FOR ACCORDION - SOLOS AND DUETS." This book contains music for ten of his original compositions and includes a complete CD. His original compositions have been in demand and he is pleased now to offer it to the public. It is available by contacting him through his website. www.gioiaproductions.com. Tacca has been featured in the NEW YORK TIMES, the JOURNAL NEWS, and the FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, among other publications. Regarding his peerless ability, the JOURNAL NEWS writes that his "fingers dance across the keyboard like a hummingbird in a garden." Vince Corozine, author of ARRANGING MUSIC FOR THE REAL WORLD, calls Tacca, "a master of his instrument" who achieves a "perfect balance between technique and musicianship." Mario Tacca will change your perception of what is possible on the accordion!
