Magrus Borges- Drummer, Composer, Percussionist and Producer
Starting out his career in Brazil at the age of 16 with one of Bossa Nova's founding fathers Johnny Alf , the native dummer and percussionist from Belem, Brazil started playing a recording with a number of Brazilian artists such as : Joao de Aquino, ZeZe Motta, Luiz Melodia, Elsa Soares, and many others. He later moved to the United States and after studing at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles he moved to New York and later performed, recorded and toured with Astrud Gilberto, Tania Maria, Larry Corryel, Delmar Brown, Ivan Lins, Leila Peneiro, Joyce, Leo Gandelman and many others..He has recorded 3 CD's "Magrus and The Rainforest Band", "The Rainforest Trio" and "Futurezon".He has recorded and performed with Grace Jones and is the drummer of Bebel Gilberto
( daughter of Joao Gilberto) He has been touring and recording with her for the last 5 years..
Now his latest CD "Futuerzon" was created with the idea of merging Brazilian rhythms & electronic grroves into one unique concept. Also the name Futurezon means that the future is in the Amazon, and like all things precious, needs to be protected and preserved....
