walt procanyn (say pro can in) is a veteran accordionist and bandleader residing in the queens section of the big apple in new york city. walt is known in polka circles as a maverick and a innovator, revolutionizing polka by incorporation the singing violins, a pedal steel guitar, and a synthesizer to create a new polka sound. walt has headed his own orchestra since he was honorably discharged from the us.navy. he has recorded numerous cd's for arc international in toronto, canada as well as crystal tone here in new york city. he now records exclusively for eastwind international artists. walt's polish and ukrainian background has influenced his music. for many years the walt procanyn polka show was heard in the washington, d.c.
maryland and deleware area. walt also toured the country with the us.navy band. but walt felt that the polka sound was failing to attract a new and younger audience. he set out to rejuvenate the sound. it was not long before he fused
