RicoRecords© is proud to announce the release of Rick Piotrowski and The Orlando Polkamagic Band's new recording, titled "Working Like Dogs" (RRC-103). This is the group's third release since their inception in 1990, and promises to be the most exciting and original yet. On this release, featuring 15 selections, OPM has incorporated various polka stylings as they've done in the past, to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. Featured on this recording are some familiar standards, such as "Over My Cradle", and "Paddy Wagon", some remakes of a few country and western tunes, including "If Were Not Back In Love By Monday" a Merle Haggard standard, a Cleveland style button box Polka & Waltz medley, a few rock tunes, converted to polka tempo, a traditional Czech melody and vocal, set to a honky style beat, and some OPM originals as well, such as "Soldier's Song", written by Steve Dudas, and others.
The core group of OPM, (Steve Dudas, horn/vocals, Mike Pavlin, bass/button box, Ron Pastecki, concertina, Ray Szelest, drums, and Rick Piotrowski, horn/reeds/vocals) has been enhanced by a new addition to the band, accordion player Jim "Jimmy K" Krzeszewski, most recently of Toledo Polka Motion. Jimmy also does a great job on vocals on three tunes on the album. Rounding out the album on piano is the one and only "Pan Jozef", Joe Oberaitis, who also does a cameo vocal on the "Button Box Waltz Medley", Fred Guzevich providing the fiddle on "Paddy Wagon Polka" and "Zakopane", Ricky Piotrowski Jr., electric guitar on "Florida Sun", and acoustic guitar on "Zakopane", and Adam Piotrowski, electric guitar on "Polka Queen".
The group's originality on "Working Like Dogs" is evident in not only the arrangements and musicianship, but also the album cover and graphic design, thanks to some creative work by Discmakers' graphic department, and photography by Rick's wife Lauri.
"Working Like Dogs" was engineered by Hank Guzevich of Wizzear's Studio, and mixed by Gary Rhamy of Peppermint Studios.
