Cantor Deborah Katchko Gray is a fourth generation cantor. She is the second to serve a Conservative congregation and founded the Women Cantors' Network, a national group of 250 women. At Boston University her studies with Elie Wiesel convinced her that that continuing in her family tradition was the best response for Jewish survival.
Deborah is a teaching artist for national organizations including Hadassah, UJC Speakers Bureau, CAJE, Chautauqua Institution, and the Wexner Heritage Foundation. She was a Master Teaching Artist for the Connecticut Commission for the Arts. Her many recordings reflect a love of Jewish heritage, spirit and innovation while remaining loyal to tradition. The Cantors Assembly has included her recordings in their "Spirit" series. Her rendition of Jerusalem of Gold was selected for the International Jewish Songbook Recording. Deborah serves Temple Shearith Israel of Ridgefield, CT.
Cantor Katchko Gray is a member of the Cantors Assembly and co-chair of the Conn. Region. She is an Associate Member of the American Conference of Cantors and Founder and Past President of the Women Cantors' Network. Her story is included in the book, " The Invisible Thread- A Portrait of American Jewish Women".

" Both perceptive and sensitive, Debbie is well equipped to translate Jewish experience in song and prayer. This she will do with grace and passion.
Listen to her. Debbie will enable you to hear and feel the exquisite yet melancholy beauty of Jewish melodies that must never be forgotten."
Elie Wiesel

REVIEWS OF KINDER SONGS

" I've listened to alot of traditional Jewish holiday song recordings and most, for one reason or another should not have been made. But, this one is significantly different. First, Deborah Katchko has a warm, rich voice. Second, she sings honestly. What do I mean? There are no tricks to this recording. Deborah and her guitar, but she's making music.
Third, she includes 25 ethnic songs full of information and history. This is a Hanukkah gift for the entire family."

Washington Parent

" ...covers a range of songs sung during Jewish holidays, as well as Israeli songs and Yiddish lullabies. Try playing it in the car and singing along!"

Hadassah Magazine

" Kinder Songs is both a Jewish family sing-along and a preschool resource. The CD is perfect for young children, ut their older siblings and parents will enjoy Katchko's sweetly unaffected singing style and acoustic guitar playing reminiscent of folk-rock icons James Taylor and Judy Collins"

Jewish Woman Magazine

" Kinder Songs accomplishes it's goals and transcends them: my one and a half year old daughter enjoys it as much as her other, more secular kids' music recordings"
