Banish Misfortune is comprised of husband/wife duo Alice and Dave Hershiser. They live in the beautiful Northern Neck region of Virginia, and the Chesapeake Bay is at the end of their street.
Dave and Alice have been life-long musicians with a great love of celtic music. Homebrew is their debut CD and they recorded all the tracks themselves. It showcases the talents of Dave on guitar, tenor banjo, penny whistle, bodhran, mandolin, and didgerido. Alice plays penny whistle, concertina, and the bones. She also sings on three songs (Robin Adair, Loch Lomond, Mairi's Wedding).
Dave and Alice love celtic music for its antiquity, its beauty and its complexity. Dave's interest in Atlantis has made us wonder if perhaps some celtic melodies have Atlantean roots. The songs do reach into a deep part of our souls.
