Biography
Steve Lott
Born in Lubbock, Texas, Steve has been playing guitar since age 11 years. Like others from west texas, he migrated to Austin, Texas in the early 70's playing in many notable outfits such as D.K Littles Power Play and the seminal reggae band The Lotions. This was the heyday of Austin music at The Armadillo World Headquarters, soap creek saloon, Liberty Lunch, Steamboat 1876 and the legendary Antones.
Steve did some quick study at the feet of giants like Freddy King and Roy Buchanan. Then out on the road around the USA. After a tour of New Zealand in 1994, he decided to try his hand down under, eventually relocating to Queensland, Australia in 1996. In 1997 he met Paul Cheeseman and Don Lebler, two celebrated Australian musicians, forming House on Fire that year. This band went on to play 36 straight weeks at Brisbane's Jazz&Blues Bar downtown and other festivals around Australia.
It was time to expand the 3 piece power blues trio into a more ambitious project. West Texas Refugee was recorded and released in 1998 to critical acclaim from Sydney to New York. The Steve Lott Band garnered Best New Artist and Male Artist of the Year 1998 from the Australian Blues Awards respectively.
In 1999, he showcased at Antone's in Austin during SXSW Music Conference and The Fiesta Texas Blues Festival in San Antonio.
Which brings you up to 2000 and the release of his second album, If Licks Could Kill (see attached press release)
The Steve Lott Band will appear April 2000 at The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
