Howdy. Before we launch into the whole pompous, yet highly organized biographical data (if I may say so myself), perhaps I should tell you a little bit about this album in a more personal fashion. This is our first full-length release. We were/are young and this album portrays the confusion that the high school age entails. While we are no longer in high school, this is an account of those years--heartbreak and rock & roll. You know, the essentials. Musically, it is full of oddities. It opens with temple chants, closes with a 70s wah-wah breakdown, and the middle is comprised of everything from an 80s metal guitar solo to hand claps and "heys!" to spastic yawlps. At this point you may be saying to yourself, why would I want this? Well let me let you in on a little secret... We aren't really as self-assured as the following biography may lead you to believe. And if you don't support our rock music, we'll simply be crushed. Josh will recoil in shame and frustration. OK maybe not that vulnerable. But hey, just drop us a line and let us know what you think. ABOUT THE ALBUM: "Everything Up in Flames" was recorded in November 2001 at Fatt Traxx studios in Carrollton, TX with producer Mitch Anderton (Ghoultown, Big Time Hustlers). The actual recording process was a difficult period of time. Drummer Ryan Shea quit weeks before the booked studio time leaving songwriter Glenn Yoder to play the drums and then overdub his vocals and guitar later. The album also captures long-time, yet since departed guitarist Brooks Monroe's amazing guitar skills in his last documented effort with the band. He was replaced by Five Times August singer/guitarist Brad Skistimas before the album was released in March 2002, later Skistimas parted, cutting the band down to three.
CONTENT: Yoder wrote the album over an 18-month span, beginning with a break-up of the band's original core and later a reformation with a slightly altered line-up. Themes tend to deal with unrequited love, the bonding ability of rock music, and even a song about bi-polar syndrome. Songs such as the radio-friendly "Telephone" and "Together Rhymes with Clever" are upbeat, catchy melodies, whereas other tracks like the slow ballad "The Road Home" take the album into quieter areas.
