The history of Balancing Act is a story of great people finding their way together in the effort to make great music - great music that had only itself to define. Matt Henninger and Cameron McLaughlin, both bassists, were introduced two years ago and decided that although they were both striving to become the best musicians they could be, they envisioned a use of the bass that differed from traditional applications. Why couldn't two musicians play together even if they did play same instrument? It was this question that started the journey of creating a project that featured the bass as not only the fundamental of great music, but also as a writing tool as well as a textural voice. Over the course of the next 18 months while exploring what two basses could accomplish while performing together, Matt and Cameron met the musicians that now make up Balancing Act. These musicians are without a doubt the best people either had had the privilege of meeting. Although the circumstances by with each introduced themselves differed, one constant remained - the desire to create great music the right way, by capturing the essence of what makes music transport the listener to whatever destination they desire. Music should grow with you. It is our hope that the emotions that fueled the writing of these tunes translate, in whatever way it was destined to, to all who listen to it. This album is the very beginning of what Balancing Act will become. We hope that you will honor us by joining us on this journey.
