10 lb. Libido is currently a three peice funk/jamband, based out of the North Seattle area.
Formed in 1999, in Edmonds Washington, Ryan Newman (Guitars/Vocals), Patrick Harper (Bass/Lighting), and Rick Isotalo (Drums/Percussion) have been playing together working on a sound that is unique here in the Northwest. Taking on styles from music genre's from all walks of sound.
Rock, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Fusion, Hip-Hop are just a few of the styles they work with. Afluent improvs, and open jams bleed into the open air at many live perforemances, remeniscent of the influences that helped form this group.
Ranging from The Black Crowes, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Parliment Funkadelic, and James Brown, to Oingo Boingo, Madness, Miles Davis, Fear, and Die Toten Hosen.
The Bus is going ever faster and showing no signs of slowing!
Our latest review from Artsy Noise e-zine says quite a bit in that respect:
10 Lb. Libido
Written by Elizabeth Benavidez
Self defined jam band 10 LB. Libido's 4 track ep is great for people who like musically diverse bands. This seems like the ideal Seattle Festival band with it's blend of funk and jazz. I can think of a few bands trying this style but none that are pulling it off as well as 10 Lb. Libido. Strong vocals and musicianship makes this CD something that a large group of people can listen to and everyone will be satisfied. There really isn't a standout track for me as I enjoyed all the songs. It's the kind of music you can get lost in and just feel good listening to.
I'll leave you with that and with that I'll see you at the show!
P.S. There's more than four songs on this e.p., just thought you should know. There's actually 8 if I'm not mistaken...
