Aleksandr Rozhkov was born in 1968 in Oryol, Russia. In 1991 he graduated from the Oryol Institute of Culture and Arts. He started to play music when he was 14. Aleksandr Rozhkov participated in various Russian projects. In 1994-1995 he took part in music project "Emmanuel" (Providence, R.I.). He is a joint owner of the independent record label "P.S. studio", where in 1997 was recorded his instrumental art-rock CD "White Russian." Now he lives in Oryol, Russia. The city of Oryol in Russia can be compared with Nashville in the United States. It is often called the spiritual capital of Russia. Here were born and performed a lot of world-famous writers such as Turgenev, Leskov, Fet, Bunin (Nobel award) and some Russian composers.
"White Russian" album consists of 10 instrumental compositions, which are united by the common idea. The album should be very interesting for majority of the music fans, because on the one hand it is a fusion of Russian and Western music cultures with a mix of oriental tunes but on the other hand it did not loose the power and energy of the rock-sound. Russian folk instruments and musical traditions are mixed here up with the classical rock-guitar and from time to time compete with each other in the virtuosity of performance. Such a fusion is a new word in the world music. Aleksandr Rozhkov says: "First of all I wanted to express the integrity of the world, our community, our common roots in this album. That is why while recording "White Russian" I tried to push into the foreground the idea and only after it to think of the commercial success of the album". CD also contains music compositions that are made in the traditional for guitar art-rock manner.

This CD will be interesting for those people who like such a masters of instrumental guitar art-rock as Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani.

Design of the album is also unique. To help you in better understanding of the music every instrumental composition is followed by the specially written image poetry in Russian and its translation in English and a piece of graphic art. So purchasing this CD you buy not only beautiful music but also 10 pieces of poetry and 10 graphic arts, which have never been published before, and have an opportunity to know Russian schools of poetry and graphic art.

"White Russian" was recorded by two musicians: Aleksandr Rozhkov (all guitars, bass, keyboards and drum programming) and session musician Gennadiy Kazimirov (balalaika in two tracks). Live concerts of the project go on with the participation of the specially invited musicians. In the meantime, such concerts are available in Russia only, but perhaps soon with the help of God it will be possible to visit them all over the world.
