Skybrain Surfing is an instrumental rock guitar album recorded by Australian guitarist Adam Carl Stephens which features 12 tracks offering upbeat arrangements that touch on other genres such as blues, R&B, funk and jazz. Eleven of the songs are originals, and Stephens includes a cover of Ray Charles' "I'm Coming Home" to round out the dozen. Skybrain Surfing contains a diversity of tunes and styles that present an inventive and adaptable player/composer. Stephens' playing is well supported by some pretty heavyweight friends including bass player Ronnie Peel and drummer Mick O'Shea. While Stephens is a more than competent soloist, it's his rhythm playing on tracks like "Mungo Brush" and "Kombi Surf Vibes" where he really shines.
