Blatherskite are a four piece entity playing the music of civilizations on the verge of collapse or transcendance. This viciously fresh and deeply compelling style of brutal, fragile, manic, alien art/rock/metal continues to grow and evolve as the band hones their knives. Blatherskite are currently in the process of writing their second full length release with new bass player Chris Angell, with the biggest, most insane sonic armaments ever seen in a bass player.
BLATHERSKITE'S
"THREE WORLDS"
BIRTH OF A NEW BAND RELEASE
Blatherskite's "Three Worlds" release marked a turning point for the band, musically, personally and professionally. Spending two years in the making of this EP, Blatherskite did it all for themselves, with gig organising, recording, engineering, promotion all done by the band, and arranging their distribution, replication and mastering. This piece of cathartic art was a release that had to happen, the culmination and leaving behind of the first phase of their new sound, like a butterfly shedding its cocoon. With a blend of exciting new sounds, interesting time signatures, experimental and unique song structures and progression, this release marks an ambition which is yet to be realised. The prototype of their art/rock/metal sound, while still sonically flawed, was achieved entirely in home studios and marks the birth of a new sound in heavy, passionate, artistic music.

THREE WORLDS REVIEWS:
"Blatherskite is definitely offering something different into the Australia hard rock etc. music scene with their Tool influenced alt rock but it won't be for everyone. For a first effort however, Three Worlds (which was entirely self recorded and produced) shows promise and with a little more experience and some refinement of their craft, it'll be interesting to see what Blatherskite come up with next." - Simon Milburn, Metal Forge Magazine

HISTORY
Blatherskite was founded in 1996 when Brendan and Tim discovered that they were wired into the same vein of madness. A bassist (Tom Waters) was found, and Blatherskite version 1 was installed. The addition of the vocalist/percussionist Nick Goryl in 1999 changed the direction of Blatherskite forever.
The new Blatherskite style was more moody and ambitious than the old circus songs, gone were the carnival atmospheres and bouncing circus rhythms, with the emphasis on more complex structures and a darker more introspective atmosphere. With Nick taking over the vocals, Blatherskite could move on into more intricate instrumental constructions with a voice that was ripe for the moulding.
Work on the current crop of Blatherskite music began in late 1999. In 2002 it was decided that the time had come to record some new material, and the Warning demo emerged, recorded at JMC Academy and mixed at home by Tim. This experience was the beginning of the DIY movement for Blatherskite, having produced a far better work than the students at the time had achieved.
In 2002 the boys moved to the Blatherskite premises in Strathfield and began work on what would be their studio and home for the next three years.
In 2003 their fears became fully realised, as bassist Tom began slipping away. After what seemed like an eternity of black torment, Tom was excised from the band and house for the good of all involved.
At this point, Justin Min (drummer for Don Fernando, mastermind of The Organisation) friend of Tim and class mate at audio school was called upon to fill the bass shoes. Having never really played a bass in his life, but being a piano maestro and general musical freak, Justin learned Blatherskite's entire set within two weeks, and wrote bass-lines for two new songs. Justin's addition to the band began to make some fresh and long-coming changes to the music and performing. With the undeniable power of rock and roll violence, Justin supercharged the Blatherskite stage shows and showed them the way to rock. Gone were the days of studied poise, as Justin opened the door to venting the violent passion pent up in these four musicians. His honest criticism and musical knowledge were invaluable and helped the band grow closer to their ideal.
The album "Three Worlds" was finalized in early March, and the album launch at the Lansdowne in mid March was a bittersweet event - the album was finished against all odds, and sounding better than we could have hoped, but the musical road called to Justin, as he had put aside his own projects to help Blatherskite grow and mature. With a great deal of sadness, but acceptance at his decision, Blatherskite have let Justin go on to pursue the music he feels true to himself.
In April 2005, Blatherskite moved out of the studio and home they had shared for the past two and a half years, as vocalist Nick Goryl moves into his matrimonial home with his new wife. A new era of Blatherskite was beginning, but was missing one final piece of the puzzle.
The musical Rubix Cube that is Blatherskite was finally completed in May 2005 with the addition of skinny New Zealand bass monster Chris Angell, his monstrous rig and Tim defying effects chain. Now Blatherskite were armed to the teeth, and if there was a musical geneva convention they would well be in defiance of it. With a monstrous new sound, a whole new palette of effects and an indefatiguable will to create, Blatherskite's knives are sharpened and sliding in. Just relax...
It's not ok.
