In 1982, childhood friends Robert Shaw and Damon Huss began playing three-chord punk rock under the moniker I.W. (standing for "idol worship") while still in the 8th grade. After a brief succession of drummers and expanded listening into the 60s British Invasion, psychedelia, mod, and "big guitar," they joined with drummer Aandru Thompson, who also gave them the name BLUE GARDEN BLUE. Over the next few years, BGB would bang out their tuneful psychedelic thrash in numerous backyard parties around the greater Los Angeles basin and become known among fans for chaotic live performances fueled by "raging hormones." They also played such evanescent venues as the Cathay De Grande, Anti-Club, and the Cavern Club, where they opened for the neo-paisley outfit The Unclaimed. Before Damon left the band in 1986, they recorded three full-length cassette-only releases of all original material, entitled Garden Music, Hello Roast Beef, and Sasquatch, respectively. This material will soon be re-released on CD.
