Barney Griffin is a composer / performer and teacher originally from Uniondale Long Island, where he played guitar and sang in several rock bands before and during his college days at Nassau Community College and later at SUNY Binghamton. In college he was a Music major, going on to complete his Masters degree in Music Education at CW Post - Long Island University.
As a recording artist Barney's first single "Now I Just Dance" was released on Relative Records in 1985 and was followed up by his 5 song cassette "Exposure" and a one and a half year string of gigs at New York City area clubs like the BITTER END and TRAX. His 11 song CD "ON THE GROUND" was completed in '94 and is available at his performances. George Fletcher of RHYTHM & NEWS magazine in his review of "ON THE GROUND" called Barney "talented", a musician who "weaves delicate tapestries of sound into story, love and humor songs".
Barney regularly schlepps down to Nashville, where publishers will "actually invite you into their office and offer you a cup of coffee...". He has been writing, recording and performing live with singer/songwriter Ellen Woloshin as "Woloshin & Griffin". In New York "Woloshin & Griffin" have performed their originals at the KNITTING FACTORY, O'LUNNEY'S, CAFÉ SINE and a host of other venues. "Woloshin & Griffin" has twice opened for LAURA NYRO at STEPHEN TALKHOUSE in Amagansett NY, opened for BILL STAINS at CAFÉ LENA in Saratoga NY and have also been active on the College Circuit including performances at RENSSALAER POLYTECH, PRINCETON, SUNY BINGHAMTON and COLUMBIA to name a few. Recently, the Woloshin & Griffin tune "I FALL HARD" was recorded as a male/female duet by Ellen Woloshin and actor/singer MIKE McLONE who has been seen in such movies as "the BONE COLLECTOR", SHE'S THE ONE", and "the BROTHERS McMULLEN".
Barney's latest release is "POPINSTRO", an instrumental CD album with Rock, Jazz, Country and Blues influences........
