I am a singer/songwriter and I’ve recently recorded an album of some of the songs that I have written over the years. Since most of the songs are from and about my past, I have named the album “Past Livesâ€. It has a variety of musical styles from “easy listening†to ballad and rock.
I have lived in the Jamestown, NY area for most of my life. I first picked up a guitar when I was 13 yr.old and began teaching myself how to play.
My first group was formed with my brother and my Dad and we played only instrumentals.
Eventually, we added singers and I began trying to sing background vocals. The Beach Boys were very big then, the Beatles had just made the scene and Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney and Bobby Vinton were cranking out hits.
Over the years I have played in many local bands doing everything from surf music, 50's rock, classic rock, southern rock to "Top 40" country music.
From the time I was about 15, I have been writing or trying to write songs. My biggest influences in songwriting have been the Beatles, James Taylor, the Eagles and Paul McCartney (in particular).
One of my regrets up until now has always been that I've never tried to do anything with the songs that I wrote over the years. The "Past Lives" album is my first attempt to change that. Some of the songs are older and some were written after recording began on the album.
