The Frankie Valens Story

In 1967, while living in New Jersey and working in a local firm and working part-time in the sporting goods section of a department store, I met a man there who was the manager of his sons band. The band, "Eminent Domain," had been looking for a new lead-singer, so I quickly agreed to come and audition during one of their rehearsals. I auditioned with the song "Unchained Melody" and immediately became their lead-singer.

I performed with the "Eminent Domain" band on the week-ends. Within weeks we started singing professiionally and began singing in battle-of-the-bands at schools, nightclubs and making radio guest spots. The audiences loved my style, especially when I belted out renditions of "This Magic Moment," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Donna," and other songs that had been made poplar in the 50's.

The band's popularity grew and we were in demand around the U.S. and Canada. The rest is history. I became a pop-singer known as "Frankie Valens." All this started from my auditioning with the song "Unchained Melody," which later became the title song on a CD known by that name.
