"The songs are memorable; the playing is interesting, thus superb; and the clever production and instrumentation never fail to keep one's ears glued to the speakers" - Jason Kadish, Music Review Magazine
"The songs have an alt. rock sensibility while remaining keenly rooted in jazz and blues. It is quite a remarkable debut." - Donnie Moorhouse, Union News
"It's a rich assortment of blues, rock and especially jazz, built out of everything from four-part saxophone choruses to Muddy Waters-style harmonica to snappy piano playing to smooth, laid-back vocals." - John Stifler, Daily Hampshire Gazette
These are only a few of many great reviews for the album VISTA, the first disc released by ...the casinghino seven..., a band dedicated to keeping a high level of musical excellence in the pop-rock genre.
C7 is fronted by Justin Casinghino - piano, vocals, saxophones, harmonica and a countless list of other instruments. Along with being a virtuosic performer on this variety of instruments, Casinghino is a composer working in not just pop-rock, but also classical concert music, jazz and blues. He somehow manages to bring all of these genres together in the unique sound that C7 offers.
VISTA, like C7's live shows, features Casinghino's family including his brother Jesse on the drums, his father Bob 'Papa' Casinghino on organ and his significant other, classical violinist Nicole Sledz leading the album's sections of live strings. Further, a good chunk of the lyrics for C7's tunes were written by Justin's cousin, poet Carl Casinghino.
With VISTA ...the casinghino seven... offers an eclectic 14 track album filled with twists and turns, fully orchestrated, with no synthesized sounds. The album is often compared to the days of the Beatles "Revolver", Elvis Costello, Ben Folds and Randy Newman.
If you like music that can be listened to either casually or with great care, or simply enjoy listening to music that was obviously made with great love and respect for all of its influences, then give VISTA a shot.
C7 would love to share their music with you. Check out the album and/or the site. We would love to know what you think.
Peace, love and happiness,
...the casinghino seven...
