Description:
Enter a secret world - In an enchanted garden, fairies and fireflies weave their stories of myth and mystery. The angelically haunting voice of London-based vocalist Alquimia blends exquisitely with the dreamy symphonic landscapes, shimmering harp, flute and piano sounds of German composer Gleisberg. Both are well-established artists in Europe who are known for their live performances during the popular summer festival season. Together they take you on a regal-ethereal journey in the tradition of Enya, Gary Stadler and Adiemus yet with their own unique spellbinding style. Alquimia's romantically poetic lyrics and bewitching vocals seem to dance upon Gleisburg's luxuriantly orchestrated and artfully layered arrangements. The result is a special magic that will caress your heart with a dreamy rhapsody of a long-forgotten time when magic was real. Come along with them, close your eyes and the veil is lifted into an unseen world of timeless beauty and heaven-touched reverie.
Bio:
ALQUIMIA studied voice, piano, electronic music and composition.
Her music derives from a highly varied career influenced by popular and ethnic musics from around the world, particularly Mexican Pre-Columbian from , avant-garde, medieval, classical rock and improvised music, and her albums feature her voice accompanied by a challenging fusion of ambient, electronic, psychedelic, ritual and trance styles.
"Alquimia is a rare talent, a female multi-instrumentalist, a daring adventurer in the realms between the avant-garde, experimental rock, and indigenous Central American music.
She hails from Mexico...her background is in electronic music... improvisation, classical and contemporary musics...she now likes to work in...the nether regions of new music, developing her own sound, and above all, escaping all musical categories, combining disparate musics, fracturing the conventional ones and putting them into a new perspective - all this done with an astute sense of melodic structure and accessibility.
She has divided her activities between composing, and recording, in London and Mexico City, and performing in various other countries.
Rüdiger Gleisberg - for over ten years this name has stood for remarkable creativity and out of the ordinary Instrumental music.
Rüdiger Gleisberg studied Music and Literature at the University of Paderborn. Having studied Classical guitar, he began playing in various Rock bands at school, and then switched to Keyboards, fascinated by the instrument's range of expression and sounds. This attraction to working with Keyboards and Synthesizers led to his building a small recording studio, which has meanwhile expanded into a modern digitally-equipped studio.
His first compositions were commissioned for Theatre productions, and signalled the beginning of the development of his now clearly recognisable style, to be found in his music for Films, numerous releases of his own material, together with joint projects.
Rüdiger Gleisberg works as a Music teacher and writes and composes commissioned pieces, and has worked under the name SOLITAIRE (together with Elmar Schulte). A joint project with Mathias Grassow and Carsten Agthe also resulted in the NOSTALGIA album.
Reviews:
AUDION magazine. :
"Alquimia blends the familiar with the abstract, the melodic with the surreal, the ancient with the modern..."
Amazing, Spain, 12/97:
Rüdiger Gleisberg has a very personal style. His music could be defined as Electronic Classical, although it also enters Space Music sometimes. In this release he combines romantic melodies of great strength, with ethereal environments, outlining an impressive sonic landscape of a romantic-cosmic character. The music is very emotional, with warm and also solemn traits, yet without falling into an excessive sweetness. Sometimes it becomes mysterious, and at other times epic. A certain nostalgic air is present in most of the themes.
