The members of Dead Steelmill all come from the same region, the industrialized Southeast Chicago/Northwest Indiana steel corridor. Growing up in the shadows of great furnaces that breathed fire and smoke, and lit up the nighttime sky as if it were day, they saw the steel industry at full force. The mills employed thousands of workers. Family and friends earned their livelihood and provided for their families working in the loud, filthy, dangerous metallurgical labs and blast furnaces. Many were maimed or killed trying to earn a day's pay. Then the mills collapsed in a giant rusted heap of shattered dreams and humiliation. Thousands were unceremoniously turned out without pensions or insurance. The steel industry became a shell of what is once was.
Dead Steelmill witnessed it all and channeled the anger, fear, and confusion into high-speed aggro-punk. Singing about the displaced worker, blue collar and white collar, they take punk to the masses. They do it all with a sense of humor and a sense of urgency that leaves all who witness a live show feeling as though they just experienced a spiritual re-awakening. Dead Steelmill sings for those who feel out of place in a world dominated by corporate giants who sacrifice the little guy for the sake of their own bonuses. Fast, loud and crude, Dead Steelmill has something to say.
