Anger As Art is Steve Gaines’ (Abattoir, Bloodlust, Pagan War Machine, Dreams of Damnation and Tactics) creation – the embodiment and, perhaps, saviour of American Thrash Metal. This is no hype. Simply put, thrash seems more a nostalgia act, a good memory of a gone day. To those who followed trends, this may be true. But what about those to whom this music was, and is real? Well, Steve, William (of Hangar 18 and Raven Mad), Javier (Abraxas) and Mars (Demolition, Coffin Texts) are not ready to accept that the genre that allows their only form of mental and emotional release of anger is considered dead by the powers that be. How can something that is dead be so alive?
We all experience anger constantly. And nothing on this earth is allowing us a way to release the energy and rage that we have to bottle up every day. Pop music can’t do it. Reggae? Hip Hop? Anything by those god-awful Simpson sisters? No, nothing but the beautiful rage and destructive power of Thrash Metal can soothe the soul. In this politically correct world based on a false sense of morality and ‘family values’, this music can save lives.
Is this you? Are you the guy who does all of the heavy lifting and hard work while the rest of the guys sit around - goofing off? Then when you finally stop for a break, the boss shows up, and the other guys pick up their tools, and 'look busy'. Of course, they get the pat on the back - the 'attaboys', and you get shit on for 'doing nothing'. Are you the guy who takes on a cold sale, creates a winning account out of it, and when the presentation to the board starts, someone else moves in and takes over? With family and friends, are you the one who pays the price for the sins of a sibling? Do you have to make amends for someone else's mistakes? Or, are you the one who always gets stuck behind a slow driver, and they cause you to catch a red light? This light goes on forever, with no cars coming the other way. All the while a cop is sitting on the intersection watching you. So no matter what happens, you have to do ‘the right thing' because someone else screwed up. Add your own story here. The list goes on and on.
Thrash being the greatest way of a release of anger - a very primal emotion that we all have. Anger As Art is the band that taps into that emotion from a very real place. This is not fantasy - it is real. And we all share that same emotion. This band speaks for you. Artwork representing traditional metal imagery mixed with rage, despair, and anger - Members from bands you are familiar with, and their pedigree breeds strength and power… and anger.
