Wake's music is furious, yet strangely dance-able. You don't know whether to "throw yo hands in the air" or throw your buddy on the ground.
Wake fuses hip-hop (not rap) and hardcore with an electronic feel generated by all pre-programmed beats. Wake doesn't have a drummer, and they love it...and on stage, they wreck the scene with a retina-searing light show and unparalleled energy and intensity.
Digital drums create a real hip-hop vibe, unlike "rapcore" bands whining about bitches and weed. No cheese. No clichés. No bullshit. The music is tight and groove-oriented. Anything extra is just that. There have been two reactions to the music: eyes glued to the stage or eyes stomped on in the pit.
During the two years after Wake hit the stage in Springfield, they gained attention and respect with their fierce live shows, fresh music and dedicated fans. The largest drawing local band in Springfield, Wake wins new fans whether opening for Coolio, Godsmack or Papa Roach. In only 18 months of live shows, they have sold over 2000 CD's, consistently selling discs to over ten percent of the crowds they play for whether its ten people or 1000. Wake has already played venues all across the mid west from Omaha, Nebraska to Tulsa, Oklahoma and from Lawrence, Kansas to Nashville, Tennessee and all places in between.
No agenda. No saving the rain forests. No bold political statements...just good music and a "vomit your soul on the audience" live show.
