Irepress was conceived in the basement of 5 Juniper Road in Sharon, MA when 6 ancestrally diverse individuals collaboratively created sounds they liked. Their paths, strewn with previous musical engagements and various interlocking friendships and memories, led to the documentation and creation of 12 songs with the original 6 members. With the ironic and disheartening failure of the duplication of H.A.V.O.C. (the first full length album) and an onslaught of distance and college, the original lineup of: Jon (Dino) DiNapoli, Bret Silverberg (guitarists), Sheel Dave' (drums), Shan Dave' (bass), Jarrett Ring and Shomik Bhattacharya (vocalists) was reduced when Jarrett left for school in Maryland.
In the following year, the 4 song "Level 2" demo was written and recorded with only Shomik's singing. Less than a year after 9/11, we wrote and recorded the "Ghrinetoure Be'" 3 song demo. A demo wrought with equal amounts politics and melody specifically captured in the song "9," a partial reflection on Shomik's experiences in New York City in a time of crisis. The demo created a buzz in Boston, but with Shomik in New York, no shows could be played. This would be Shomik's final recording with Irepress. In the wake of Shomik's inevitable departure shortly thereafter, the status of the band hung in the balance. Irepress soon faced an all too ominous decision: continue or fade. The choice was clear. Almost three years of uncontrollably sparse jamming and writing would follow, thus leading to the creation and completion of an 8 sided landmark on the bands 8 year long journey.

Could a band go from having two singers, 1 full length album, several EP's and a staggering amount of shows in front of a steadily growing fan base, to a 4 piece with no new material, no singer to speak of and a steadily waning fanbase? To own Samus Octology is to know the answer.
