Young punks and metal-heads in the last century, the guys from H.O.R have been hammering out hard rock and metal riffs since long before Seattle even heard of Nirvana. Northwest born (or cursed) they write and rehearse amongst the dumpsters and dark alleys of industrial Seattle. Growing up, fighting trends, songwriter/programmer James Kruize is no scenester or hipster follower, but a certifiable rocknroll frikkin' fanatic. His Les Paul slingin' sidekick Chad Hawkins, is no dergie chord strummer either. His fierce chuka-chuka assault has cracked the plaster off soundstages all over the country. Huge guitar and real acoustic drums have always been this team's formula for power. With Chad and JFK's giant rhythm guitar/drum domination, Nezmond Styles contrasts the crunch with smooth, gravity defying vocals while the bottom end is nailed down by monster bassman Frankie (the Machine) Radciffe. The music is hard to categorize, while it has the enhancement of samples and synthesizers the only thing "industrial" about H.O.R. is their home location and use of sounds. Hammer on Rome has pulled off some pretty amazing shows that incorporate props, live actors, and robots but probably won't be seen on MTV anytime soon.
UPDATE: At the present time Hammer on Rome is defunct. The band broke up before 911 and later James Kruize joined famed glam band the Sea City Dolls, Nezmond Styles is working on a solo project but it's not clear if any of the other band mates survived the breakup musically. The one CD they did record is an epic endeavor sounding like a big budget recording. The songs range from dark and cynical to optimistic, dealing with important issues like self mutilation and sex with aliens. H.O.R. invites all of you to see and hear for yourself.
