Greazyspoon is a band containing 3 members. Founded in early 1997, the band's current compact disc has been over 5 years in the making.
Guitar player George Head had a vision. Unsatisfied with playing in heavy metal bands from L.A. to Upper Sandusky, "Gee Dogger" wanted to write a cd that would push his playing to the limits and into the realm of all-time great artists. But who would he record his cd with? He had played with every drummer in NW/Central Ohio. This called for drastic measures. He gave his old college buddy Wes a call. Wesley (a.k.a. "Felix Stein, The Keeper of Time") was about the coolest cat you would want in "yur" band. Having studied with some of the greatest drummers in the world, his style can only be summarized as technically ecclectic, brilliant some moments- challenging at others, but always accessible to the listener.
So Gee and Wesley started working on the CD "Fast Food World" without a bass player. "Wester" would lay down drum tracks over George's rhythm tracks in the Guitar Ranch's 8 track studio. The songs were slow in formation and the two guys where beginning to freak on finding a bass player. If it wasn't for Deb hooking them up, those guys would still be playing with themselves...no pun intended. Well, enter Adam Nation. He was six months in the finding and well worth the wait. Adam has this ability to solo over a groove which totally let Felix and George do what they do best...JAM.
"I remember the first time I jammed with Adam," recalls ol' Wes. "We played for an hour straight. Adam's style permits me do things on my drums that very few bass players have ever enabled me to do so before."
Greazyspoon was complete before the guys knew it. Oh yes, they tried out singers and keyboard players, but in the author's humble opinion, that took away from the true essence of what these 3 guys where doing. "Fast Fewd Whirled" will represent these artists' greatest musical expressions to this date.
Recording took place in the The Guitar Ranch's 24 track studio. The wood floors and diagonal walls make for an incredible large room recording environment. The recordings really turned out great!
So if one happens to find themselves in Findlay, Ohio at about 8:00 on a Saturday night they can usually hear the band jamming from the street and you could even watch thru the front window. Heck, if you wanna come in and jam...that would be a trip too. "Cats" liken Greazyspoon jam sessions to getting vertical on a skateboard or riding wheelies on a dirt bike. Greazyspoon is a full on, gnarly hip, jamming monster from Tokyo that crushes cities and soars over the masses like a smokin' teradactle on fire!
