LAZARUS COMPLEX writes songs about despair, anxiety, depression, regret, desperation, inadequacy, loss, and all the things that make life worth living! Fans of Solitude Aeturnus, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, and My Dying Bride should check out this CD.
What sets Lazarus Complex apart from other DOOM/GOTH/ STONER ROCK acts is the fact that they write memorable songs, instead of just trying to paste riffs together. This is dark, heavy music dripping with despair. They combine crushing intensity with great melodies that get stuck in your head. This world needs a good “Cleansing†and this is just the band to do it.
REVIEW from 1heavymetal.com:
I have the sneaking suspicion that when "The Cleansing" was recorded by the Lazarus Complex someone was channeling the English band Cream through a very special pipe. They call their style GOOM ROCK. I'd say they are onto (or on) something here. "Look What Life Has Done To Me", even on a CDr, deserves headphones and the lights out. Definitely one bizarre trip. "The Least Of These" continues the trip into parts of space the Scientologists can't even imagine! Cream once again seems to be a major influence on "Reap What You Sow". The closing track "When The Light Calls My Name" skipped on my player or am I just in a fog? I'll be passing this disc on to friends who "partake" and can get an even better appreciation of these stoner grooves. A most unique debut from the heartland of America in Indiana.
