HONEST. LOUD. SONIC. DESTRUCTION.

I Decline rip out the pages from the book of such rock legends as Sabbath, the Stooges, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Motorhead and glues them back in a trusty tattered notebook with the punk philosophies of Black Flag, the Misfits, and Minor Threat.

In early 1996 Chicago natives Pat McLaughlin, Dole, and Pez got together and made some noise in a basement. As a joke they called themselves "bloody-blood" writing predominantly mock-metal songs that poked fun at hardcore music.

Finding a mutual respect for bands like Kyuss, Monster Magnet and Sleep they spent much of their time doing free-form jams live.

At one show, the band was performing a particularly aggressive version of Monster Magnet's "Third Alternative." The venue that night had wired the PA incorrectly causing a grounding problem with the microphones. When bassist Pat went to sing in the mic he got a jolt of electricity, almost knocking himself unconscious.

In the meantime, longtime singer of local band "Crestfallen", Dustin Harnish, was at the show and saw what was happening. He quickly jumped on stage and grabbed a microphone and started singing. The band was so impressed by the performance that soon he severed ties with Crestfallen to join the three who then changed their name to 'I Decline'.

With the aid of auxillary lead guitar players, Tommy Bucina, Dan Dominiak, and Rob Gerdes, the group set out to capture the sound of their explosive live show on tape.
Not content with the sound of digitally recorded guitars, they tracked everything live in an all analog studio on 2" reel to reel while drummer, Dole [who recorded their first album] tracked Dustin's vocals at his home studio. Throughout the entire session, the band tried to simulate the atmosphere of a live show, even planning out the songs like a set list.

Now that the album is complete, the band has set out to gain some attention from press, radio, and ultimately record labels.
Securing some distribution through MeteorCity Direct and Cd Baby, they are currently booking their own tours regionally in the Midwest and are gearing up for a West coast jaunt some time before the end of the Summer.
