Daniel Maya has devoted his career to the study and performance of many styles of music, from Rock and Blues to Classical, Flamenco, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian. His songs and compositions combine these influences into an original style that is rhythmic, sensuous, lyrical and passionate.
While studying flamenco guitar in Spain, he lived with a family of Gypsy musicians, where he observed the traditional Flamenco that he incorporated into his own contemporary style.
He has performed widely throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and at many of the leading wineries in Napa and Sonoma. His group "Tocar" has appeared at the S.F. Jazz Festival, S.F. Performances, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.
