San Francisco congera Dana Hinchliffe and New York jazz vocalist Molly Skuse have collaborated with 10 tremendously talented Bay Area musicians to create Cha Cha Boom. The result is a new exciting salsa hybrid. English language lyrics combine with Latin percussion, lush piano harmonies and intricate horn lines.
It's decidedly Salsa but with the depth and nuance of jazz, rock's guttural intensity, melodies informed by an irrefutable pop sensibility, and some funk on the 2 and 4. Reaching out towards a wide and divergent listenership, Cha Cha Boom invites everyone to collaborate, to dig in and dance, and get caught up in this twelve-piece tour de force!
