Cascabel is a dynamic orininal trio with sounds and styles that truely span the spectrum. This band is capable of delivering an acoustically organic performance rich in latin roots music such as, bossa nova, rumba flamenca, guajira, cha cha cha, to salsa and charanga. This trio also has a very electric and groove oriented personality with styles ranging from rock, funk, and "cumbia". Check out Mamita as well as the title track Candela and you'll understand why the word cumbia is in quotation. These cats have an interesting take on this traditional music form. The band has a very personal and conscious side to its songwriting as well. Examples would be the message driven guajira Abre tu conciencia and the 'chicano-centric'groove tune... Mexico. Cascabel is led by Gustavo Angeles and Miguel Melgoza with Angel Zamorano on bass. The unique nature of the sound and chemistry of this trio is found in the musical diversity of its members. Gustavo Angeles not only sings lead but is fluid on electric guitar, acoustic nylon string, as well as the cuban tres. Lead vocalist Miguel Melgoza plays a hybrid drumset that includes latin percussion. Bass player Angel Zamorano sings back ground vocals and plays his instrument in its traditional role as well as harmonic accompany. Cascabel can be subtle and melodically sensitive. They can be powerful and rhythmically intense, all the while bringing vocal and instrumental hooks that please the senses, and fortify the soul. The Cascabel sound is unique, honest, y para todos,(for everyone)..... Enjoy.
