This production - my very first banjo CD - is not one of pure bluegrass banjo (and neither is it your typical hippopotamus album, for that matter). It is simply an eclectic mix of things I like to play on the 5-string which I think make for good listening. Short of having definite musical roots, I would say that classical music probably comes closest, with early 60's country & western, German pop, and Dixieland jazz running a close second. Furthermore, I have always loved latin rhythms, as my explorations into that territory show.

Bluegrass Unlimited, in their March, 2003 issue, called the CD "... one musical collection full of variety and excitement...".

I bought my first banjo in 1969 after hearing "Dooley", played by the Dillards. Throughout the years, my major influences in the long evolution of my picking style have been Douglas Dillard, Carl Jackson, Alan Munde, Allen Shelton, and Bill Keith.

I have played in semi-professional bluegrass and country bands and have done studio jobs for other people as well. One of the highlights was backing up Charlie Moore on his brief tour of Switzerland in the 70's.

Current memberships are with the country bands of award-winning Andy Martin ( www.andymartin.ch ), and Straight Ahead, where I play mostly pedal steel guitar.
