Although Dinorah's has traveled across Mexico and the United States to sing countless shows, the beginnings of her career were humble, yet they speak to the spirit and enthusiasm that she gives to her music today. " As little girls, my sister and I developed the love and passion for music after listening to my parents and older sister singing all the time. We had a guitar at home and we both decided that it was a wonderful way to spend our free time. One day we thought it would be fun to take our guitars down into the subways of Mexico City and sing on the trains. It was so much fun for me to cheer up a whole car of people with a few songs and after that, I just fell in love with entertaining."

After this Dinorah developed into a regular feature in the Mexico City nightclub scene, singing with a large variety of groups ranging from salsa to romantic piano music. She toured from the south of Chiapas to the north of Monterrey and placed within the top 10 finalists of the prestigious musical contest, Valores Juveniles Bacardi. She also sang on the national Mexican television networks of Television Azteca and Televisa.

After relocating to Los Angeles, Dinorah formed the 12 piece female Mariachi orchestra, Las Alondras. The group was very successful and was featured at many festivals around California including Mariachi U.S.A. at the Hollywood Bowl. In addition to playing the opening shows for the legendary Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, the group was also featured on the Alma Awards, where they backed up Stevie Wonder and Celia Cruz

"I had a lot of fun and success with this group. I felt that we brought a lot of happiness and vocal power to the stage it was a sad day for me when I had to break up the group because my family was moving to Michigan."

In the year 2000 Dinorah relocated to Michigan where she had a lot of trouble finding other musicians who knew how to play Mexican music. "I really wanted to start another band there. Unfortunately in that part of the United States I couldn't find the right musicians to work with, so I just decided to go back to my roots. I grabbed my guitar, went to a few establishments and auditioned and was able to play on a regular basis just singing by myself with my guitar. This actually was a great time for me. I not only found a lot of new friends and fans, but I was also able to really focus on and develop my singing as well as my guitar playing because I was doing everything solo and had to find ways to embellish and complement without other musicians."

"Also during this time, a lot of people started asking me if I had a CD. This is where I started thinking about recording an independent project. I wanted to do a collection of "huapangos," which is a very traditional style of mariachi music that blends Aztec roots with European music. I love these songs because they not only remind me of old Mexico, but they are also sung in minor keys and have lots of falsettos in them. I really wanted them to be done right and with lots of spirit, so I went back to Mexico City to record them. I hired the great Mariachi orchestra, Mariachi Arriba Juarez, to back me up and I put a lot of effort and love into these pieces. I hope everybody loves these songs as much as I do."

Currently Dinorah lives in Denver Colorado where she is working to start up a string quintet.
