On December 4th, 1974 Janette Fuentes aka "BJ Blunt" commenced her role as the seventh child in a nine sibling household. Although raised mainly by her older family members, she quickly surmised the pecking order and welcomed any change that suited her energetic abilities. While at first her talent in sports was obvious, a sense of creativity developed and began to flourish in the form of music . Lacking a formal education forced her to reach within herself for the true feelings that drove her artistic creativity. After unleashing her sense of aestheticism, she began to develop an ear for music.

While still only a teen, her exposure to the gritty, poor & often dangerous neighborhoods of East Los Angeles hardened her spirit and mind. Unbeknownst to her, it was her soul that was simultaneously affected to a degree that would become a well of creativity to draw from. Growing up in the “barrio” exposed her to realities otherwise unknown to the suburbanized neighborhoods of middle and upper class America who eagerly welcome the music she conceives. It is precisely such exposure that brings her talent to the forefront of independently produced Rap music.

BJ Blunt doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t hold back, and appears to have no obvious limitations with relation to her creative talent. Given the opportunity, her music more than speaks for itself; she is undoubtedly a great talent and someone to watch for.
