Asi (aah-see) from the Swahili dialect, meaning "it's obvious". And we are obviously just trying to make good music.

Asi (aah-see), is a New York based band whose instrumentation might be familiar, but whose approach to music is both varied and different. All of the bands material is original and written by the groups co-founders, Kendall Scott (guitar/keyboards) and Alonzo Wright (saxophone/flute/percussion/wind synth).
Asi (aah-see) is joined on this project by Gene Lake on drums (David Sanborn, Steve Coleman, MeShell N'degeocello), Reggie Washington on bass (Branford Marsalis, Steve Coleman, Roy Hargrove) and Jeffery Haynes on percussion (Pat Metheny, Cassandra Wilson, Lizz Wright)
"I have always felt that a book is not a book until it has be read, and with this recording I think the same sentiment could be applied. With the writing, playing and recording of this music, the process is only completed when it is listened to and shared.
