Heidi Eger Souza is an accomplished classical pianist with a Masters of Music in Piano from the University of Texas at Austin. She has performed solo recitals in VA, TX, NJ, PA and NC, including several benefit performances in Moorestown, NJ, and concerts in Bath, Raleigh, Washington, and Tarboro, NC. She has also performed harpsichord in Colonial Williamsburg and has served as accompanist for the WIlliamsburg Women's Chorus, the College of William & Mary Music Dept. in VA, and the University of Texas School of Music in Austin, TX.

Souza's varied programs are often topped off with ragtime by Scott Joplin. After a concert held at the Civic Center in Washington, NC under the sponsorship of the Beaufort County Arts Council, she announced the availability of her CD "Berceuse and Friends: Lullabies, Night Pieces, and Fantasies to Soothe and Inspire the Spirit." Then an audience member asked her, "Are you going to do a Scott Jopin recording?" The next day, another audience member called, asking, "Did I hear that you are working on a Scott Joplin CD?" That was the genesis of the idea which led to this "Souza Plays Joplin" recording.
