The film "Charlie's Angels" uses Alan's 1977 hit "Undercover Angel". Inspired by this event, he created the new version, now available here!
After writing & producing songs for Jim Henson's Muppet Babies animated TV show (in the 80's), & National Geographic's award winning "Really Wild Animals" children's videos (in the 90's); the Los Angeles resident is back to his first love, writing "adult" songs. "Writing for kids' projects has given me great satisfaction, as well as a nice income. But now I'm creating tunes for pop & country artists. It's all still fun," O'Day laughs. "And I'm constantly blown away by the e-mails I receive through my web site, from fans all over the world."
Most people may know Alan from "Undercover Angel" , or as the writer of Helen Reddy's quirky two million seller "Angie Baby". But O'Day has remained busy at his craft since the 70's. Besides creating hits for many other artists, he has written for Disney Television's "Sing Me A Story", co-written hit songs with Japanese superstar Tatsuro Yamashita, & even co-written & produced original songs for the "Arabian Nights Pageant" in Indio, California. "I grew up in the Coachella Valley, attending the Pageant yearly; that made this project a labor of love."
Alan keeps a second home in the Southern California desert, where he devotes time each year to raising money for a scholarship fund he started to honor his late mother Jeannette, a gifted elementary school teacher."The proceeds go to financially challenged C.V. High School graduates who wish to continue their education toward teaching." All artist proceeds from the first 500 purchases of "UNDERCOVER ANGEL 2001" will go to the Jeannette O'Day Scholarship Fund, which is tax deductible (go to http://alanoday.com for more info).
