Johnny Breaks Chicago
Taking a on a name change after 15 years under the alias 'Johnny B' has given him a fresh new character with respect to this industry. In the past years 'Johnny Breaks Chicago' (aka Johnny B) he has made guest appearances at major clubs around Chicago and continuously playing out of the country including Rome, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Acapulco, The Dominican Republic, Cancun, Nassau-Bahamas and most recently Amsterdam.
Opening and closing for djs like 'Sandra Collins', 'Dave Seaman', 'Donald Glaude', 'Mike Rizzo', 'Simply Jeff', 'Filterheads', 'Frankie Bones', 'Icey', 'Sasha', 'Audio Bullys', 'Boy George' and many many others..
To market his name change and some accomplishments his latest album consisted of a 12x 14 pull-out poster as the cover. This has pictures of his 'Revelation Tour' that contains pictures of different nightlife settings from around the globe.
Johnny has been pushing the breaks sound for the past nine years in Chicago. His ability to rock crowds with his set programming using 'old school', 'nu-skool', 'funky', and original breakbeat tracks is fastly becoming popular even in his hometown where breaks are NOT regularly played. His selection of tracks which incorporates original works using 'hip hop samples', 'vocals' and 'drum loops'. Seems to be the making of something more than what is just out there. He is something to feel as well as watch. He is a crowd teaser. He really gets a crowd up on their feet.
His new single titled "I'm Not Internationally Known" comes out on 12" in July 2005
His latest BREAKBEAT COMPILATION titled "ROCK ON" comes out in JULY
With over 80 mins of energetic, fast and uplifting loops, scratching and breaks!
In 2004 his record label launched the first ever all breakbeat radio station in Chicago.
"Chicago Breaks Live Radio"
On 24/7 with breaks from the past, present and future as well as guests djs and interviews !
Johnny started the C.B.M (Chicago Breaks Movement) in 2005. The purpose behind this movement is to expose 'breakbeat' to a major city where it is hardly appreciated and to give local breakbeat talent a way to promote themselves and their sounds. His hopes are to have breaks played in 80 percent of the Chicago clubs by 2010.
We'll see about that but in the meantime Johnny will continue to keep the crowds no matter where his travel may take him entertained and energized !
