Bloq, aka Jim Dodd, raised in the UK, relocated to Sydney, Australia, became hooked with music as a teenager. Becoming absorbed in the emotional and expressive potential of sound, a history of experimentation that began with post-rock band collaborations, was furthered individually through the available mediums of four track tape loops, detuned guitars, drum machines, casio keyboards and toy department oddities. This expression reached maturity with the exposure to the sequencer, sampler and synthesizer with which he shapes his current works.
Releases to date include the compilations Other Animals, Beat & Squelch 3 and Couchblip!. Upcoming releases include Radio National's 'Sound Quality 2' compilation and Tim Koch's 'Please don't tell me that's your Volvo' remix CD. His track 'Carmen' has also been reworked by Funckarma for future release.
Uprooting his studio to offer a personal live experience, Bloq has played frequently around Sydney with gigs to date including Sound Summit, Drop, Frigid, Wasabi, Beatz Bar and Kalide nights.

In the Mix, September 2002
"Life from the Outside is Bloq's first full-length album release on the consistently excellent Sydney-based independent electronic label Couchblip! Records......it's here on a full-length release that Dodd is really able to stretch out and build a cohesive musical headspace for the listener.... there's a consistently strong feeling of the human emotion present behind all of the manic timestretching and cut-up percussion. This is melodic emotionally direct music that equally builds vivid moodscapes as much as it flies off on angular diversions and tangents. Dodd has created a truly cohesive and intimate listening experience."
