Alan Morphew has been performing as a singer, songwriter and bandleader for many years. He put together his first touring band at 16. In his early years, Alan briefly played in bands with Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) and Jimmy Stafford (Train). He later performed live in Germany after recording lead and backing vocals with the German band, Hall Of Fame. He also won a local (L.A.) "Best Songwriting" award in 2002.
In his many years working in a major Los Angeles recording studio, Alan got to engineer Tupac's very last recording session, punch in overdubs for Kiss, play trumpet on a TSOL album, and received a kiss on the cheek from Tori Amos.
Alan has spent the last year writing and producing his debut solo album. "It has been great to finally work as a true solo artist" says Al. "I get to follow my heart and be myself as a songwriter and as an artist".
Some of Alan's major influences over the years have been The Beatles, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, Styx, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley and Bob Dylan. Alan's new album can be described as AAA, singer / songwriter, 70's influenced rock. Although Alan Morphew's album has an original sound of it's own, it would play well on AAA, AC, college and internet radio. The songs would fit well alongside Keane, Dave Matthews, Five for Fighting and John Mayer.
This is a high quality album with a keen focus on songwriting, presented by a beautifully passionate vocal. The album features four songs with full production including drums, bass, keyboards, guitar, dobro, trumpet and cello, and one incredibly intimate solo acoustic performance. The album was mixed by James "Jimbo" Barton (Matchbox 20, Eric Clapton).
Alan is currently playing solo acoustic shows. Stripping his music down to solo acoustic allows much more room for Alan to exercise his wide range of vocals, ranging from beautifully sweet falsettos to deeply emotional power vocals.
Alan Morphew is currently playing solo acoustic shows in his home of Los Angeles and will be touring his childhood home of the Midwest this July 2005 in support of his newly released self-titled debut album.
