"...And Friends" is a very unique collection of musical theatre/ piano pop styles. Overall a fun and energetic array of songs, the styles of the pieces rang from fun piano rock and comedic monologues, to witty cabaret and emotionally charged musical theatre. The different types of voices also add a third dimension that makes this c.d. a truly special addition to any collection.
The composer, Brett Ryback, has been writing music for musical theatre for over eight years. Being able to share this collection with a very talented group of friends was a great honor for him, and the love behind the c.d. and the mutual appreciation between the singers and the composer really give the project a magical touch of heart. Each song was specifically selected in order to showcase Brett and his friends, and the title song at the end really completes the c.d. in a cool, heartwarming way.
There is literally something for almost everyone on this c.d. Specifically, if you enjoy Stephen Sondheim, William Finn, Ben Folds, or Harry Connick, Jr., you can't go wrong with "...And Friends." It is a musical delight for all to enjoy.
