Ian Whitcomb has been writing and recording his own compositions since his early hit days in 1965. This new CD is a compilation of 26 numbers--including 3 instrumentals--from 1967 to 2005. The obvious hits are not here: instead there's a rich and even strange sampling of Ian's many musical styles from Tin Pan Alley foxtrots and waltzes to edgy rock. There's also a rhumba and some Big Band swing. Ian, as usual, is heard on musette accordion, piano, and ukulele. Several of the songs are from the soundtreacks of motion pictures for which he has contributed the score: "Stanley's Gig",and "Last Call". Musicians include such legendary sidemen from the Sixties as James Burton, Jim Gordon, Lyle Ritz, and Lee Allen. For more information on Ian and his books, songbooks, and DVDs-- and for a full biography and current activities-- visit ian whitcomb.com.
