Mississippi's own Buffalo Nickel have been writing and performing together since 1999. They have taken their brand of honk-n-roll music from Austin, TX, to New York City. Their debut release on Plowhandle Records, UP ON BLOCKS, showcases their wit and their range of musical influences.
Their lyrics contain a mix of irony and straightforward honesty as they discuss El Caminos, Jesus, Southern politics, Y2K, grandmothers, Willie Nelson, broken hearts, and more. And their music sounds like Hank, Creedence, Flatt & Scruggs, and Ozzy jamming at 2 a.m. in a concrete block roadhouse somewhere in south Mississippi.
