joey welz is best known as the pianist with bill haley and the comets(mca)he co-wrote the revised version of rock around the clock with its original writer-james e myers>just before jimmy died on may 9th,2001 in bonita springs florida,the two rewrote this hip-rock version of the classic song>joey wanted to up date it for the new generation and asked jimmy to call it rap around the clock since it is half sung and half rapped by joey as the comet mc>jimmy rplied>no call it rock around the clock forever,i have my reasons>he died the following week>this then is a tribute album from joey to jimmy myers of a collection of all the songs they wrote and recorded together during the past 2 decades,many of which hit the worldwide independent charts>joey's country version of the song he co-wrote with jimmy,rock around the clock(country)went to number one in europe in the mid 90s>check out joey welz inducted into the rock a billy hall of fame at www.rockabilly.nl
