Alexander Viazovtsev, born in Siberia, Russia in 1979. Graduated from Tchaikovsky's Music College of Ekaterinburg, Russia, with Honors Diploma in performance and teaching (1997). He studied in Ural State Conservatory, Ekaterinburg, Russia (1997 - 2000) with Honored Artist of Russia, professor Anatoly Sidorov. In 2000 Alexander transfered to the College-Concervatory of Music (CCM), University of Cincinnati (UC), Cincinnati, OH where he completed the requirements for Artist Diploma (2002) with Dr. Brad Garner.
Mr. Viazovtsev was the acting principal flutist with the Virginia Symphony orchestra, Norfolk, VA in 2004-05.
At this moment Alexander is the acting principal flutist with The Phoenix Symphony orchestra.
Recently Mr. Viazovtsev appeared as a guest soloist with Dallas Chamber (April '03) and New Mexico Symphony orchestras. He was also one of the guest artists at the Texas Flute Festival (May '03)and at Bradley University, Peoria, IL (June '04).
Alexander participated in many Russian & International competitions, where he received several awards and honor mentions as a great flutist and excellent musician. He is the first-prize winner of the 2002 Frank Bowen Young Artist, the 17th Annual Myrna W. Brown Artist competitions. "Leonardo De Lorenzo" flute competition in Italy has Alexander's name as one of the winners in 2003. In the same year Alexander won the CCM Flute Concerto Competition. Diogenes Rivas invited Mr. Viazovtsev to participate in the contemporary music festival A Tempo (Caracas, Venezuela) as a member of the Chamber Players of UC, CCM (R. Winther - conductor). There he performed in a series of chamber music concerts as a member of the ensemble as well as a featured soloist (July '02).
Alexander participated in many master classes and workshops, including Interantional FAME Festival with Julius Baker, master classes with Sir James Galway and Emmanuel Pahud.
This album has been played several times on the Cincinnati's Classical Music radio station WGUC and on the Hampton Roads Classical Music station - WHRO.
