Mondo Heptet is a seven piece group: guitar, bass, drums, bone, sax, trumpet with vocalist obviously drawing from all kinds of musical sources and assembling diverse influences into a twisted musical whole.
This CD starts with a leering arrangement of a tune recorded by Fats Waller.
That's followed by a straight ahead jump tribute to Wynonie Harris.
Track three is twang meets swang.
On track four things get less predictable with a gentle swing haiku.
Swingin' For Crack is a very twisted comment on the motives of certain romeos of Swing.
Track six is a lovely tango that tells the story of how the waiting johns started the tango in parisian bordellos.
I Always Land On My Feet is the down beat, early sixties, tv-big band retelling of the ancient mariner.
Wombat Baby is the international hit. Is that Esperanto or gibberish?
Track 9 - all dressed up, no where to go.
Dixie Bop - the story of Sammy, Spider, and Herman who taught the Squeebs how to swing.
In The Jungle is live, live, live with outstanding solos and a liquid ensemble.
Crying In Your Sleep is a moody twenty-first century blues.
