The Blue Eyed Soul Revue was formed in October of 1984, and is composed of members who all have roots reaching back to this soulful period in American popular music. The group features the talents of Pershing Wells, guitar and vocals; Roy Knight, drums; James Arthur, trumpet; Michael Vice, tenor and baritone sax; Jimmy Gisclair, bass; and Ron Folse, keyboard and vocals. Most recently, the group has added the dynamic vocals of Freddy Lan and Ms. Tammy "O" Trant.

The term "blue-eyed soul" was coined about thirty years ago to describe white performers who not only played black music- but played it well. The appropriately named Blue Eyed Soul Revue takes you on a nostalgic journey through the best of the soulful hits of the sixties and seventies, authentically recapturing the classic style and high energy of the early soul and rhythm & blues era.

The seven member group performs the "Sweet Soul Music" of such artists as Otis Redding ("Mr. Pitiful", "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay"); James Brown ("Try Me', "I Feel Good"); Wilson Pickett ("Mustang Sally", "Midnight Hour"); Eddie Floyd ("Knock On Wood"); Sam and Dave ("Soul Man", "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby"); and Percy Sledge ("When A Man Loves A Woman", "Warm And Tender Love").

The vast repertoire performed by the band also includes hits recorded by great Motown artists like The Temptations, the Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Martha & the Vandellas. The band also plays songs made popular by such New Orleans rhythm and blues greats as Fats Domino, Ernie K-Doe, Jessie Hill, Art and Aaron Neville, Frankie Ford, and Jean Knight.

The Blue Eyed Soul Revue has performed in concert with such renowned recording artists as the Platters, Percy Sledge, Sam Moore (of Sam and Dave), Frankie Ford, Jean Knight, Tommy Ridgley, Ernie K-Doe, and Jimmy Clanton. The band has also appeared on shows with such music legends as Fats Domino, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Chubby Checker, Blood Sweat & Tears, Louise Mandrell, as well as, New Orleans Soul Queen, Irma Thomas.

In the spring of 1988 an album featuring Ernie K-Doe and the Blue Eyed Soul Revue was released on the Syla Record label. This album was produced by Milton Batiste of the world famous Olympia Brass Band. The album entitled "Burn K-Dor Burn" includes powerful remakes of K-Doe's biggest hits like "Mother In Law", "'Taint it the Truth", "A Certain Girl", and others. The album also includes original songs by the Blue Eyed Soul Revue. This album received much critical acclaim for the "power" that comes off the tracks- directly attributable to BESR.

The Blue Eyed Soul Revue has performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival a dozen times since 1987, including appearances with Percy Sledge, King Floyd, Ernie K-Doe, Eddie Bo, and Jean Knight. The band has also appeared on New Orleans' Cox Cable music show, Louisiana Jukebox, on four occasions. Their high-energy performance attracts loyal fans of all ages and is truly a unique musical experience. Whether you enjoy great dance music, or simply prefer to sit back and reminisce to the oldies of the 1960's and 70's, you are in for a real treat! The Blue Eyed Soul Revue continues to keep soul and R&B alive into the new Millennium.
