This is an early example of 19th century Romanticism crossing over into as yet unnamed Terra Verde territory. Congo Square in New Orleans featured music about as African as you could get in the early years of American occupation. Then we have the dreamy moods of languid Latin music coming through in selections like "The Flirt" and "La Mariposa" by contemporary composer, Hal Isbitz.

Original compositions by Frank French are also featured here, most notably the "Intermezzo", one of two selections on this recording that Scott Kirby later recorded on the compact disc, "Terra Verde" Yet we have "Oh Zez!", a neo-novelty number, and "The Western Drouth", a description of our parched landscape in the West. Overall, this disc is quite an eclectic compilation of old and new.
