Piano or Ballet is a first recording of years of piano music rolled into a single CD. The playlist represents multiple influences by favorite artists, Billy Preston, Kellie Hunt, Bruce Hornsby, Vince Guaraldi and George Gershwin. Dan Bailey's keyboard style and melodic construction are truly rhythmic and imaginative it the use of chord voicings. These piano songs range from introspective (Nobody Told Me, Springstar, This Close to You) to fun and rollicking (The Same Train, Black Keys, Sometimes I Love You, Blender Blues and D-Minor @ 9 Thirtyfive).

The title, Piano or Ballet, revisits the question posed to the artist at age 8 by his parents. This CD is proof that the right choice was made at that tender age. What was a boy to do?

Dan Bailey hails from East Aurora, NY, the home of the Fisher-Price Toy Co. and the famed Roycroft movement of Elbert Hubbard. Originally from the Fingerlakes region of New York, Dan moved his family and music to the Buffalo suburb where he teaches piano (3 melodies on the disc were penned by young students!) and performs with local and visiting acts as well as a solo act.
