Ed Teja has been playing fingerstyle acoustic guitar since the 60s, when he began his career in coffeehouses on the East coast of the US. Since then he has appeared in venues in California, Seattle, Boston, Hong Kong, Venezuela, Bequia, St. Martin (French West Indies), New Mexico and Texas. Although he hasn't always made his living from his playing, he has kept gigging.

He spent seven years playing at Caribbean waterfront bars, resorts and restaurants where he met T-Bone Fisher, who had studied with Brownie McGhee. Working together they they studied the techniques of Mance Lipscomb, Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Boy Fuller and others. They started a blues festival in Venezuela that lasted for three years, becoming a major tourist attraction in the area.

Working with Austin-based harpist Jim Luke he toured Ontario, Canada, appearing on TV Ontario in Sept of 2002. In 2003 he opened the acoustic day of the Silver City (New Mexico) Blues Festival.

He is now based in New Mexico working venues throughout the Southwest and spending a great deal of effort writing songs that stretch his blues image into pop, folk and jazz.
